Old Mission San Luis Rey Historic Foundation, Inc. is a sponsor of many activities that either support the preservation of the mission or provide educational programs to the community.
Scholars For Tomorrow
Scholars for Tomorrow is an educational contest that is open to all Oceanside Unified School District 4th graders. There are two divisions to this contest; the Mission Essay Contest and the Mission Model Building Contest. Awards are given to the top entries.
We believe that by supporting this educational contest, we encourage the youth to continue to learn about California history.
If you are in town when Pablo Tac Day is held, you will see fantastic replicas of California Missions created by local students. These missions are truly works of art. Check out the photos from past contests to see what the students are learning and creating.
Pablo Tac Day
Pablo Tac Day is an annual event that is geared for 4th grade students to learn more about the history of the Mission. Join us in games, learning activities, and listen to a Native American Storyteller.
Each year, the winners of the 4th grade Scholars for Tomorrow are honored at an awards day event. Awards are given in both divisions, Mission models or written essay. Congratulations to all!
